Session Description: Chronic, systemic inflammation affects many people, and over time, contributes to serious illness, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. This presentation will describe chronic inflammation, including pathophysiology, symptoms, the influence of diet and lifestyle, as well as the effect of insulin levels. You will learn nonpharmaceutical approaches to reducing systemic inflammation and lifestyle changes to decrease inflammatory responses. As a healthcare documentation specialist, you will learn terminology related to the immune system and nutraceuticals commonly used to treat chronic inflammation.

Bio: Steven Garza is a health educator who has been working in the nutraceutical industry for over 12 years in the areas of nutrition education, management, and sales. Steven currently consults with practitioners, helping them implement nutritional therapies into their practices and shedding light on the latest scientific findings and innovations to best serve their patients. Steven holds a BA in Communication from University of North Texas with additional coursework in nutrition.
