Session Description: This presentation will explore the importance of high-quality documentation in the healthcare setting and its effect on patient safety. Examples from both clinical and administrative roles will be used to illustrate the principles of clear communication through documentation.

Bio: Julie Dickinson has 15 years of experience in the medicolegal arena as a legal nurse consultant for a defense law firm, a senior claims analyst for a professional liability insurance company, and most recently, as a risk manager. In addition to her BSN, she holds an MBA from Yale’s Leadership in Healthcare program and is currently pursuing a juris master’s in health law. Julie is certified in healthcare risk management and legal nurse consulting, is a past national president of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, and senior co-editor of the textbook Legal Nurse Consulting Principles and Practices, 4th edition.
