Addiction: Misunderstood and Mistreated- Part 1 (1 CM)


Objective #1:  Attendees will be presented with current statistics regarding addiction from the NIH (National Institute of Health) and NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse).

Objective #2:  Attendees will learn the actual meaning of the word “addiction,” and the different types of addiction. 

Objective #3:  Attendees will learn whether or not addiction is a genetic trait.

 

Bio:  Jacque Taylor, AHDI-F, MSP, married, mother and stepmother, grand- and great-grandmother.  Pet mom of 3 beautiful felines.  Currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Lived in Utah most of my life along with the states of Idaho, California, Oregon and the island country of Barbados.  Hobbies include computer networking, crocheting, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. Member of AAMT/AHDI since 2000 as a student of medical transcription, working in the profession as an MT, QA, and instructor through 2012.  I have served in local, state, regional, and national capacities and on many national committees since joining AHDI and currently a candidate for District 1 Director on the National Leadership Board for 2016-2019.  Obtained BS in Health and Wellness in 2013 and MS in Psychology in 2015.
