Erin practiced acupuncture and herbal medicine as a Registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, Canada, for 15 years. She recently completed the AHDI-approved Medical Transcription program at CanScribe Career College as she transitions into the next phase of her career.
Justin Chapman has been working in human resources and marketing for over 10 years. His understanding of branding has helped numerous people find employment.
Patt King, CHDS, AHDI-F, is manager of HIM Document Integrity at Tucson Medical Center (TMC) in Tucson, Arizona. Patt is a former AHDI President and currently the President-elect. She co-chaired the Best Practices Task Force, which created AHDI’s new Healthcare Documentation Integrity Auditing (HDIA) Implementation Best Practices Guide. Patt began an HDIA program at TMC in 2019, joining several other healthcare facilities across the country, which laid the foundation for this innovative and badly needed healthcare documentation workflow.
Tina Hincka, RHDS, AHDI-F, recently celebrated 30 years at Corewell Health (previously Spectrum Health). Her career began when she attended Ross Education in Livonia, MI, and completed a cardiology transcription internship. After moving back to Lansing, where she grew up, she took a part-time position as a transcriptionist in the pathology department at a local hospital. She now lives in the Grand Rapids area and has been married for 36 years, has two children, Ryan and Sarah, and three little granddaughters who brighten her days and keep her busy at the same time.
She learned about AHDI several years after working in the HIM department at Corewell Health. She volunteered with the West Michigan Chapter and held positions to include media specialist, secretary, and two terms as president.
She has served as an AHDI board member for almost three years, participating in several committees, attending many conferences, and currently serving as president. Tina recognizes the many changes since she first began her career but has had fun every step of the way and has learned so much. Her ambitions include earning the new CHDP-A credential in the future.
Stacy Lehto, CHDS, AHDI-F has been in the medical transcription field for 24 years. She has done transcription, QA, and has also been a QA auditor. She is currently a Senior Healthcare Documentation Quality Analyst at Spectrum Health. She has served on AHDI’s Board of Directors and was the 2021-2022 President of AHDI. She has also served on several committees, including the Conference Program Committee and Virtual Conference Strategy Task Force among others. Stacy has contributed to AHDI’s e-book on Strategic and Business Planning Skills and has been instrumental in the development of the toolkit Clinician Created Documentation: Reinstating Quality Assurance Programs to Safeguard Patients and Providers. Stacy has worked as copy editor for several of Stedman’s word books, including their Medical Transcription Skill Builder series.
Rich Redmond has been the touring/recording drummer with multi-platinum country rocker Jason Aldean for over two decades. With Aldean, Rich has recorded 31 #1 hits and plays to millions of fans per year in iconic venues around the globe. Rich has also performed with Garth Brooks, Ludacris, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Bryan Adams, Bob Seger, Chris Cornell, Joe Perry, Jewel, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, and many other top performers. Rich has appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Voice, American Idol, The Grammy Awards, The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Ellen, The CMA Awards, ACM Awards, CMT Awards, etc. Rich was voted “Country Drummer of the Year” many years in a row by Modern Drummer magazine and DRUM! Deepak Talreja, MD, a Virginia Beach native, completed his undergraduate education (1993) and medical school at the University of Virginia (1997). He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville (2000) and a Clinical Cardiology Fellowship (2003), as well as an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship (2004) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is the director of the cardiovascular division and cardiac catheterization laboratory at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and helped start the Structural Heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He serves on the faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is also the director of the Sentara Cardiology Lipid Clinic. His special medical interests include transcatheter valve replacement, coronary revascularization, and closure of patent foramen ovale. He has extensive training and expertise in echocardiography, nuclear imaging, valvular heart disease, and preventative cardiology.
Daniel Engel is Director of Product Management for Clinician Solutions at 3M Health Information Systems (HIS). He is responsible for connecting the needs of clinicians to the capabilities of technology to reduce administrative burden, quell burnout, and improve the quality and cost of healthcare. With over 10 years of experience working with artificial intelligence (AI), natural language understanding (NLU), machine learning and speech recognition technology, Dan has led efforts to unlock the medical record with datamining search and discovery applications and real time physician engagement. Currently Dan is responsible for ambient documentation and virtual assistant solutions that provide a conversation interface with the electronic health record and allow documentation to be created as a byproduct of patient care.
Leah VanVels worked as a Child Protective Services specialist from January 2017 until December 2021. She has worked in both Ottawa and Kent Counties doing investigations and ongoing CPS case management. During her time as a CPS worker, she worked in both rural and urban areas. She received a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University in 2015 with majors in Family Studies and Spanish. Due to being fluent in Spanish, she often would receive cases where the investigation or ongoing case would have to be completed solely in Spanish. Ms. VanVels has held previous roles doing home-based case management with CPS involved families in Saginaw, MI, with Wellspring Lutheran Services as well as worked in a non-secure detention home for youth near Mount Pleasant, MI. She is currently working on her Master of Science in Criminal Justice through Bowling Green State University and is working as a Family Independence Specialist with the State of Michigan as she finishes the program.
Brett is a physical therapist, college professor, author, and meditation and yoga teacher. Brett has been a practicing physical therapist for over twenty-five years with a special interest in chronic pain. Dr. Wade is a full-time college professor and is the author of the book, “Ekahi Method. Master the Waves of Life.” Brett and his wife, Siri, owned a yoga and meditation studio called the Ekahi Center and founded a yoga teacher training school called the North American School of Yoga Science. Brett has a podcast called “Chewin’ Glass” that deals with mental health and strategies around dealing with mental and emotional anguish. Dr. Wade has presented numerous times to corporations, businesses, and organizations on numerous health-related topics such as meditation, mindfulness, and topics related to the Ekahi Method. Brett is a regular contributor of meditation recordings on Insight Timer and many of his meditation are also on YouTube (Brett Wade). Siri is an occupational therapist, college instructor, yoga teacher, and certified Yoga Wellness educator. When not teaching at the college, she works as an OT with caregivers of children with special needs to develop wellness and resiliency strategies. She also teaches yoga and other forms of mindfulness and movement.
Dr. Linda Rossetti is a board-certified pediatrician and medical geneticist at Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an assistant professor in the department of pediatrics and human development at Michigan State University. She attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She then attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine before completing a combined residency in pediatrics and medical genetics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Her clinical interests include the genetics of autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability, multiple congenital anomaly syndromes, and differences of sex development.
As a member of a nationally recognized premier medical malpractice legal team, Patrick Ellis counsels and defends physicians, nurses, and physician assistants in complex medical malpractice actions. He consistently contributes to the education of healthcare professionals and organizations as an editor of the Rhoades McKee Michigan Appeals Blog and frequently speaks about risk management issues to associations and organizations throughout Michigan.
Patrick is a current member of the Rhoades McKee Executive Committee, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and, formerly, the Michigan Society of Hospital Risk Management. He is a graduate of Kalamazoo College and the Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.

Vanessa Walkley has been a wound, ostomy, and foot and nail nurse since 2006. She was an assistant professor of nursing at George Fox University College of Nursing the previous three years. She recently joined the inpatient wound and ostomy team at Providence St. Vincent’s Medical Center full-time as staff and nurse educator.
Adam Pepper has worked as a physician assistant for 10 years in primary care. He has been the director of APPs for Primary Health at Spectrum Health for the past 2 years. He is the clinical lead for the Spectrum Health COVID-19 Long Haul Clinic that opened in February 2022.
