It is aimed at healthcare documentation specialists/medical transcriptionists and others interested in opportunities to supplement their existing work. We will look at the difference between editing and proofreading, the skills required for good proofreading, some top tips for effective proofreading, as well as resources that can be useful to anyone needing to present accurate written work.

Bio: As a tutor at Knowadays.com (formerly “Proofreading Academy”), Myra Ingmanson supports people enrolled in the “Becoming a Proofreader” course by answering language and technical questions, reviewing final assignments, and providing detailed feedback. She also works with business clients to develop in-house style guides and provide staff training on the basics of proofreading. Additionally, she is a freelance proofreader for Proofed, where she focuses on academic documents from essays to master’s theses and dissertations. Myra also has 30 years of experience teaching language and academic writing at the university and college level in Asia, Latin America, and the U.S.
