Session Description: This presentation will introduce methods of collecting, organizing, and searching notetaking applications to create your own database of references and resources. These skills are useful for newbies and veterans alike, as they can greatly increase productivity by quickly and easily collecting your notes from multiple sources plus information you have already researched. Learn how to save that information in a way that can be quickly retrieved and used. Learn how to save sample reports, part or whole webpages, text from academic papers, images, account specifications, and any document type (.pdf, .doc, etc). We will demonstrate how to search for specific text (keywords) within images and documents in your notetaking application for instant retrieval of relevant information with no fumbling through papers, notebooks, sticky notes, folders, or drilling down through your hard drive. Applications covered in this presentation include Word documents, Excel, and Evernote, but many of the techniques can be applied to most any notetaking application.

Learning Objectives 1. Evaluate several notetaking applications. 2. Review criteria for reliable sites for medical research. 3. Learn methods for quickly and easily collecting notes from various sources. 4. Discover methods for searching and retrieving information from your notes using keywords.
