Session Description: Understand what the Cures Act means to patients and providers, how it will be accomplished, and what the deadlines are to implement the Cures Act. This presentation will cover the benefits of the Cures Act for patients and the ease of use with technology. We’ll discuss issues pertaining to patient security and HIPAA compliance in conjunction with the Cures Act. Learn how providing patients with the cost of care and the ability to obtain the best care for the cost can benefit everyone.

Bio:  Julia has owned and operated her own business since 1992 and has been a medical transcriptionist for 29 years, with experience in nearly every specialty as well as acute care. She has experience with traditional transcription, speech recognition, working within EHRs, and creating record reviews for MedLegal purposes. She manages and trains contracted staff members for her business in performing both traditional medical transcription and medical historian work. She is currently serving AHDI as Chair of the Webinar Education Task Force and Co-Chair of the AHDI Welcoming Committee. Julia has authored articles and presented several webinars for continuing education for AHDI.
