Session Description:

Medical transcriptionists, auditors, and editors play a vital role in ensuring accurate healthcare documentation. This session will provide essential knowledge on amputee rehabilitation, emphasizing key terminology, gait analysis, prosthetic components, and the multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of the rehabilitation timeline, from the hospital to long-term management, and how physical therapists and prosthetists collaborate with other team members. Common abbreviations, movement planes, gait deviations, and prosthetic considerations will be reviewed to enhance familiarity with complex rehabilitation documentation.

This session bridges the gap between clinical care and documentation, empowering attendees to enhance accuracy in healthcare records. By improving their knowledge of biomechanics, prosthetics, and rehabilitation terminology, attendees will be better equipped to identify inconsistencies, ensure proper coding, and support high-quality patient records.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the amputation and rehabilitation process
  2. Recognize the role of physical therapy and the multidisciplinary team
  3. Interpret key terminology and abbreviations
  4. Understand basic biomechanics and functional mobility
