Session Description: This webinar will cover essential online resources including Dorland’s and Stedman’s medical dictionaries, OneLook, GoodRx, and the National Provider Identifier (NPI) database published by CMS.  In addition, you will learn specific search techniques for quickly locating information in Google plus ways to research directly within MS Word without leaving the document.  Newbies and veterans alike will learn efficient techniques for improving accuracy and productivity in healthcare documentation.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify various online resources for searching, defining, and correctly spelling medical terms. 
  2. Use the NPI database to locate information on healthcare providers (doctors, nurses, allied health providers, and facilities). 
  3. Discover built-in research tools in MS Word. 
  4. Learn Google search techniques for efficiently locating and verifying information contained in healthcare documentation.

About the Speaker: Laura has been teaching productivity and search techniques for healthcare documentation for over 20 years with an emphasis on accuracy and productivity.  She has been a speaker at many local, state, and national meetings, and has authored manuals, workbooks, and textbooks for healthcare documentation that teach practical methods for working efficiently and thinking critically.  Laura currently owns a healthcare documentation technology company and is a member of the AHDI board of directors.
