Description:

The veterinary profession is rewarding because of the variety of species we encounter and the privilege of supporting our patients and their families. We also face numerous challenges, including increased attrition and burnout rates, and a demand that far exceeds our current ability to care for the patients who need us. It has become increasingly difficult to keep up with the workload, which may result in a less-than-ideal caliber of medical record quality, inadequately reflecting the level of care provided, potentially leading to patient safety issues and a lack of continuity of care. It is more important than ever to create environments where practitioners do what they entered the profession to do—care for pets—and spend less time on medical record entry, leaving that piece to talented professionals who help support the integrity of the medical record and can accurately reflect the patient care we provide. Scribe and transcription services—a traditionally underutilized resource in veterinary medicine—are now coming to the forefront, and we are excited to explore the possibilities.

Anyone with a vested interest in medical record quality and/or veterinary medicine will learn from and enjoy this session.
