Description: Medical-aid-in-dying (MAID) is now legal in 11 jurisdictions throughout the United States, allowing terminally ill qualified adults their choice to peacefully end their lives on their own terms. The audience will benefit from learning the parameters of this law and especially the restrictions. They will also become aware of how MAID is legally implemented, the physicians’ responsibilities, patients’ responsibilities, and the limitations and guidelines that hospices must follow.
The presenter will:
• Provide an overview of MAID throughout the U.S.
• Discuss the principles behind MAID and who can or cannot access MAID.
• Give an overview of the legal process.
• Describe the support given when someone chooses to control their end-of-life.
