Title: The Ins and Outs of the Virtual Scribe

Presenter: Robin Minter, CHDS, AHDI-F

CEC: 1 Professional Development (PD)

Session Description

Search results for the job description of a medical scribe yield phrasing along the lines of “performs documentation of medical visits and procedures in the EHR.” Sound familiar? It should, as this is what healthcare documentation specialists/medical transcriptionists already do. Suffice it to say, this presentation will showcase a similar career path—using the same knowledge and skill set acquired as an HDS—that enables folks to continue doing what they love and working in the healthcare field.

Our presenter will touch on the difference between an onsite scribe and a virtual scribe. Hear about the similarities and differences between HDS and scribe roles and duties, and some of the skills that are transferable. Being a virtual scribe provides many of the same benefits we’re used to, such as the flexibility to work remotely but also be part of a team. The virtual scribe is a position well suited for both experienced HDSs as well as those new to the field. Attend this webinar to learn what additional training is necessary to work as a virtual scribe.
