Bio: Kat’s  healthcare documentation journey spans 44 years. She grew up in a Santa Barbara-based hospital and owned a medical transcription service for 20 years, moved to Oregon in 2002 and managed national services with teams in 8 countries.  She has been President of Oregon’s AHDI components, and is co-founder of AHDI-West, serving in nearly every capacity, coordinating all events, webinars, and communications. Twice she has been AHDI-West Member of the Year and AHDI Member of the Year nominee, 2007 AHDI Advocate of the Year, and received the 2017 AHDI Distinguished Service Award.  She has been a life-long learner, pursuing degrees in Healthcare Management Administration, Healthcare Informatics, a medical coding/billing credential, and working with Cybexys, a new technology company specializing in concurrent and retrospective review of clinical documentation to ensure accurate diagnostic information for continuity of care, claims and compliance.  She resides on a small ranch in Rogue River with a variety of critters, including her burro, Brody, and is married to Larry King…Live!
