Georgia Green manages the Release of Information department in a large regional healthcare system where she is responsible for a team of 60 who disclose protected health information to patients, healthcare providers, and third parties like insurance companies, attorneys, social service agencies, law enforcement, the courts, and more. In her role, she must stay current on constantly evolving state and federal legislation that govern patient access and privacy.

In addition to seven years in Release of Information, Georgia has spent 30 years in other HIM roles, including healthcare documentation specialist, recruiter, author, editor, curriculum developer, supervisor, and manager.  She has a bachelor’s degree in health informatics and master’s degrees in business administration and education. She maintains professional credentials as a CHDS, RHIA, CCS, and CPC, and is a fellow of AHDI.  She has also earned the new Release of Information microcredential offered by AHIMA.
