Lea is the Marketing Strategy Lead for Verizon’s Healthcare, Insurance and Life Sciences (HILS) practice, overseeing healthcare messaging, marketing and thought leadership in support of Verizon’s enterprise business group. She has spent ten years at Verizon as a healthcare industry subject matter expert, strategist, and content developer. Lea works with Verizon’s healthcare practice principals, sales leaders, product development teams, and solution architects to advance Verizon’s connected solutions value to enterprise customers and partners. She also oversees the company’s strategic alliances with HIMSS, American Telemedicine Association, Advisory Board and other healthcare industry influencer organizations.
From 2002-2011, Lea was Director of Professional Practices for the Association for Healthcare Documentation (AHDI), overseeing practitioner certification, continuing education, legislative advocacy, and marketing strategy for the association's 20,000+ global professional members. She was Editor-in-Chief of the association’s two clinical/technical journals and authored the Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd edition, the standards manual used by clinical documentation specialists globally. She has been a credentialed documentation specialist since 1995 and spent the first ten years of her career in acute care clinical documentation as owner/operator of AccuTranz Medical Transcription Svcs. She also taught anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and medicolegal fundamentals as an allied health professor for Florida State College at Jacksonville. Lea lives in Green Cove Springs, Florida, with her firefighter/paramedic husband and three kids.
