Caleb Bupp, MD, FACMG, is pediatrics-trained, board-certified medical geneticist practicing with Spectrum Health West Michigan and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He serves as the Division Chief of Medical Genetics and Genomics. He is also an assistant professor at Michigan State University, where he was named a Pediatric Master Series Teacher. He is the chairperson of the Genomics Committee at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and the Spectrum Health Institutional Biosafety Committee, as well as serving on the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Research Advisory Council. He is the chair of the State of Michigan’s Newborn Screen Quality Assurance Advisory Committee and a member of the Make-A-Wish Medical Advisory Council for the State of Michigan. 

Dr. Bupp received his bachelor of science in molecular biology from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, and his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Ohio. He completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and his medical genetics training at the Greenwood Genetic Center in South Carolina.
His clinical interests include intellectual disability, genetics education, and rare syndromes. He has authored multiple journal articles and textbook chapters in the field of genetics. Recently, he helped describe a new treatable genetic syndrome caused by ODC1 mutations now termed Bachmann-Bupp syndrome. He has been an invited speaker for many conferences and events locally and nationally.

Deepak Talreja, MD, a Virginia Beach native, completed his undergraduate education (1993) and medical school at the University of Virginia (1997). He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville (2000) and a Clinical Cardiology Fellowship (2003), as well as an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship (2004) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is the director of the cardiovascular division and cardiac catheterization laboratory at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and helped start the Structural Heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. The 2021 Healthcare Documentation Integrity Virtual Conference (HDIVC21) has been approved for 12.5 CECs for the 4-day conference.  You will receive a certificate for each credit-worthy session once you have viewed 85% or more, whether live or on-demand after the conference.  If you are unable to attend the live sessions, the recordings will be available for 3 months following the conference.

Q.  When is the virtual conference?

Q.  Can I register for a single day or single session?
A.  Single days or single sessions are not available a la carte; however, your full registration gives you access to all sessions during the live event on August 4-7, 2021, as well as on-demand access for 3 months immediately following.


Q.  How do I attend a virtual conference?
A.  Enjoy the conference from any computer (PC or Mac), tablet, or smartphone using a link provided by AHDI. Click here for more information on minimum specs needed to view. We recommend the latest version of Google Chrome as your internet browser.


Q.  Will I need a webcam to participate?
A.  A webcam is not required for attendees. You will be able to see our speakers and presenters who will be using webcams.

Q.  What if I can’t make one of the live sessions?
A.  All sessions will be recorded and available to you for 3 months immediately following the event to view on-demand.

Q.  What if I have technical difficulty?
A.  Please see our technical FAQs here.  Live phone and email help desk support will be available throughout the conference in case you run into any technical issues.

Q.  How many continuing education credits will be available?
A.  We currently anticipate a total of 12.5 CECs.  Certificates will be available to print upon completion of each session.

Q.  How long is each session?

Q.  Will I be able to ask the speakers and presenters questions?
A.  Absolutely!  During the live event, you will be able to post questions and/or comments to the speakers, presenters and attendees who have joined the session. Everyone joining live will be able to view and interact. This feature will not be available on the recording if viewing on-demand so do your best to join us live!

Q.  Will I be able to meet and interact with other attendees during the virtual conference?
A.  Absolutely!  Once registered, you’ll be able to communicate via the conference forum as well as via chat within each session at the designated social time. You will also see and meet new people during the social activities scheduled at the end of each day and meet with the exhibitors. 

Q. What are the social activities?
A. The social activities are live events held at the end of each day. Details for each are being finalized and we will make announcements along the way. You won’t want to miss them as they will include fun activities and prizes!

Q.  Can I participate with a group of friends?
A.  You are welcome to view the conference with a group, but we ask that each participant have their own registration. A participant of the group may contact AHDI with an attendance list for the CECs to be marked on the individual accounts.

Q.  I’m afraid I’ll miss the fun of not being face-to-face. What can I expect?
A.  We will still be coming to you live for our Integrity Awards Ceremony, AHDI leadership updates, and scheduled social activities!  We’re re-inventing fun!
